White Christmas

No need to dream of a white Christmas this year. Every time we went to celebrate with our family we got white Christmases like ones we have never seen before. Off to Grammy and Papa's for a couple days leading up to Christmas. We watched movies, played games, visited with friends, and made snow angels in over a foot of snow. On Christmas Eve we exchanged gifts and made the journey home to wait for Santa.

When we went to sleep the roads were clear and Avery made sure there were cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. When we woke up the food was gone, stockings were full, new presents were under the tree, and yes it was SNOWING making everything white outside.

After opening our gifts we made our way to Great Grandma and Grandpa's house. We picked up Uncle Nate and off we went. When we got there Nate and Gruncle helped clear the 13 inches of snow piled on the driveway(which had been cleared earlier in the week) to give everyone room to park. After clearing the snow we took a little time to do some sledding. We stuffed ourselves at dinner and opened gifts from under the makeshift tree.(Great grandpa had shoulder replacement surgery last week and we were not supposed to be at his house. However, it was the only house that the whole family could get to. Everyone pitched in and things turned out great!)

In a flash it is all over. Time now to unpack, organize our new clothes and toys, and relax before returning to school and work. The dream of a white Christmas is great but this year's snow might have been a little more the some may have hoped for.

Chrstmas Season

We won't let the weather stop our Christmas Season. On Saturday we celebrated with the Henderson family(Dad, Jan, Cory, Thea, Great Grandma Betty, Aunt Loretta, Uncle Nate, Julie, Christopher, Nick, and Jessica) The roads getting there were no so bad. Coming home was not so good. The in between time was great!

Bright and early Sunday Morning we packed up the car again(with uncle Nate) and headed off for Grandma and Gruncle's. It was the last Seahawk football and we were not about to miss it. While girls stayed home with the snow the boy ventured into Seattle. Perfect drive in, great parking spot, good breakfast, and a yes a 2nd Seahawk victory in as many weeks. More fun than the game was the snow. It started snowing hard at kickoff and still has not stopped. Uncle Nick helped make a snowman in our section. Snowballs flew everywhere. No one was immune to the barrage of snow flying through the air. Fans, Security, Police, Players, Coaches, Refs, and even Paul Allen himself found themselves dodging the snowballs as they whizzed by there heads.


We waded our way back through the snow to dinner and presents at Grandma and Gruncle's house.

Plowing through the snow we arrived back at home and will powering up to make the journey to Papa and Grammy's house in the morning.

Thank Goodness For 4-Wheel Drive!

Snow Days II and III

Snows days have wiped out the entire week of school and the cold has set in. Avery and Neil got all dressed up and spent Thursday out in snow once again. Sledding and a long walk to the high school and elementary school highlighted their day. Snow accumulations in places were over a foot.

After snowing all day on Thursday, Friday has turned to clear and cold. The trees are all still covered and we have icicles growing down from the gutter and up off of the rhododendron.

Snow Day!

It was a snow day for the entire family. School was cancelled for Neil & Avery and Shelly worked from home (and actually got a lot done).



While I was hard at work, Neil and Avery ran to the store and bought a new sled. It turns out that purchase made for a very fun day for them. Avery and Neil spent most of the day outside playing with the neighbor boys and Amy & Cam.




Taking a break from sledding, Neil, Avery, Jacob and Ben built a large snowman.




After a long day outside, the crew came inside. Avery and Cam worked on a craft project (provided by Barb) of coloring cookies. They had a good time coloring!




Will we repeat this again tomorrow? I know 2 people who sure hope so!

First snow of Winter 08

Sometimes even when you get what you want it is not exactly what you were hoping for. Time to go to PF Chang's for dinner, but even though we arrive early the wait is longer than we are willing to stand for. Every week we hope for a Seahawk victory and this week they delivered. But as we watched the other 1 and 2 win teams take the lead in their games, we witness the Hawks win their way out of a possibility at the number two pick in next years draft. The first time Charlie Brown actually kicks that football he will hurt his foot and the ball will probably break a window in its path.

As the weekend started, so did the snow. Avery was excited to see the snow, but then disappointed when it would not pack together to make a snowman. Snow angels and winter gymnastics moves was all it was good for.

Now that the snow and cold is here, how will impact the week? Hope for late starts, but not cancellations. No need to add days to the end of the school year when we have the following two week off. I guess we will have to wait and see. Even if we get what we are hoping for it may not turn out to be what we wanted.

Again?????

Who am I? Is my name Charlie Brown? The Shehawks(yes I did type shehawks) once again showed promise of giving us a sunday football victory and then yanked it away in a fashion that only Lucy could be proud of.

After the game Uncle Nate came over for a little Guitar Hero World tour and Avery and Mommy built quite the Gingerbread house.

Will we be fooled again next week? Answer...Just call me Charlie.

Visit with Santa

Avery visited Santa at the Alderwood Mall today. After waiting very patiently for a short amount of time, Avery got up on Santa's lap and told him that she wanted Polly Pockets for Christmas (like she REALLY needs more Polly Pockets).

Tis the Season

Black Friday turned into Decoration Friday at the Henderson household. Last year amid the snow and rain we went the route of an artificial tree. After one returned tree to Costco due to lights not working we managed to get our newly purchased tree up and decorated. Would the purchase pan out for the following year was the question.

This year we used the day after Thanksgiving to decorate the house. Out of the attic came the tree and we crossed our fingers that everything would work. 5,4,3,2,1...We plugged it in and CRAP! Two branches did not light up. After about 15 minutes of grumbling we found the culprit. One broken light. With that light replaced Avery put the star on top and we finished the rest of decorating could commence.

Ready for the Christmas Season to begin we eventually made our way to Target, Costco, and an unsually quiet dinner out at a Family Favorite...Bob's Burgers and Brew.

Thanksgiving Week

Thanksgiving week has to be one of the best weeks of the year. It starts with a short three days of school and work, followed by the best meal of the year, followed by a three day weekend to recover. This year we attended Avery's school play "The First Thanksgiving". Tuesday night provided the best 8 minute play you could ever have had the pleasure to attend. Avery the pilgrim said her line..."Girls can help grind wheat to make bread." and helped conclude the play with a rousing "Have a Happy Thanksgiving!"

A happy Thanksgiving we had. As the Sea-Turkeys got chewed up and spit out in Dallas, 22 hungry mouths helped devour a 26 pound turkey and all the trimmings to go with it. Avery and cousin Sofia had a great time and even had the opportunity to play outside on the unusually nice Thanksgiving day.

28 more days until we get to this again. Next time with presents!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!

Another Weekend

Easybake Cooking anyone? Chef Avery made sugar cookies for dessert on Friday night. No high school football this weekend to put a bad taste in our the mouths.

Golf anyone? Saturday afternoon between Gymnastics and Birthday party Avery played the front nine in our yard. Avery came closer to winning today than either the Huskies or the Cougs.

As a reward... A new tattoo. Avery is now eligible to play defense for the Seahawks. She couldn't do any worse than Tatupu and the boys.
